Taiao

In Taiao I have been learning about chickens. I have learned about the parts of a chicken, some facts about chickens, the parts of an egg (which I used to make an omelet), and what a chicken needs to be happy and healthy. Something I learned was chickens need a lot of water.

Music

In music with Mr McCullum I have been learning to play the ukulele.

I'll know I've been successful when I hold the ukulele correctly and can strum the cords. Something I learned was using the ukulele cords.

Reading

I am learning to focus on reading for a set purpose (skimming & scanning). I'll know I can do this when I can find the key ideas and record the key ideas. Something I found hard was skimming and scanning.

Learner Qualities

I am learning to communicate.
I'll know I can do this when I can identify a variety of ways I can communicate with others.
I communicate by saying nice things to others.

Writing Reports

We are learning how to write an information report.

I'll know I can do this when I can write a report with a title, classification, description, location and a group of facts about a subject.

Something I found hard was the classification stage.

Art Don Binney

We are learning to create art inspired by Don Binney.

I'll know I can do this when I have created a landscape with a foreground, middle, and background.

My bird and my background are coloured using pastels and natural colours.

Something I learned was how to use pencil and pastels to create art.

Maths Taimana

I am learning to sort fractions with different denominators.
I'll know I can do this when I can order fractions based on their size.
Something I found hard was division.
